Summer is a great time to take advantage of floating candles – put them in the swimming pool, the hot tub, a bird bath – or use them in a bowl as a centerpiece for a graduation party or wedding-related activity. Add some live flowers or foliage, rocks, crystals, or any other non-flammable objects, and you’ve got an easy-to-do and attractive centerpiece.
All candles will float, since wax is lighter than water. If the candle is wider than it is deep, it will float upright. If not, it may capsize. A fairly shallow depth, generally not much more than 1”, works best.
